My Donation Journey

"Donating my placenta did not change my life, but it helped change the lives of others."

After a long journey of IVF and years of struggling with infertility, my husband and I were finally going to be parents. In 2018, I gave birth to my eldest daughter, who is now 5 years old. That next year, I became pregnant with our youngest daughter, now 3. We were so blessed to have been able to conceive her naturally. When I discovered that we could donate her placenta after her birth, I knew that was the perfect opportunity to share my blessing in a small way.

Why not donate?

For me, the decision to donate was easy. Her birth tissue had served its purpose and would be discarded at the hospital. Given the option to help other people at no cost to us, or the hospital, there was no reason to say "no."

The process was straightforward!

When we arrived at the hospital, awaiting my delivery, I could sign all the necessary paperwork and answer the critical question to donate. The needed blood samples were collected when I had my IV, so there was no second needle stick. I am 1000% on board to donate my birth tissue again when we have our 3rd baby coming soon.
